Birthe is the Director of the Financial Institutions Department at the European Investment Bank (EIB). The department groups EIB’s financing operations with private sector financial intermediaries in the EU. Her teams provide funding support as well as a range of guarantee instruments, including securitisations, to partner banks for the ultimate benefit of SMEs, Midcaps and small to medium-sized projects in line with EU priorities.

Birthe has more than 32 years of experience in the private and public banking sectors spanning lending, structured finance, investment and asset management activities, 15 years of which in senior executive frontline and transversal functions at the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund.
