Mary Alexopoulou

Director, Alantra

Mary Alexopoulou is a Director within Alantra FIG, with over 15 years of experience across trading, advisory, and investment banking. She began her career in an  algorithmic trading hedge fund and later joined EY, where she supported major Greek banks during the peak of the 2015 financial crisis, contributing to their successful navigation of the EBA stress tests.

Since 2019, she has been with Alantra, playing a key role in the transformation of the Greek banking sector. Through landmark NPL securitisations under the HAPS (“Hercules”) scheme, she contributed to the systemic clean-up of the Hellenic banking system, supporting the reduction of NPE ratios from c.50% to low single digits. Her focus has since shifted to
Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) transactions across asset classes in Greece and Europe.

Now based in London, she leads Greek-related activity while working across international mandates, advising financial institutions on capital efficiency, balance sheet optimisation, and complex credit strategies.

Mary holds a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering from Imperial College London.
